The audio never leaves your iPhone. Reckon on a few minutes and some battery per hour.
Most shows don't publish one. Kiln writes them on your iPhone — no key, no account, no charge, and it works on every device the app runs on.

Speech recognition runs on your device. Tap any line to jump there; the transcript follows along as it plays, or reads on its own while something else is playing.
The audio never leaves your iPhone. Reckon on a few minutes and some battery per hour.
When a show publishes its own transcript, Kiln uses that and never overwrites it.
Summaries and topics are searchable across your whole library, not just one episode.
With a model connected, the blank labels get real names — from the show notes and how people introduce each other.

Transcription costs nothing whichever you pick. This is only about the writing on top of it.
On device, no key, no charge. Needs an iPhone that supports it, and some episodes get refused.
Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — OpenRouter, Groq, a model on your own machine. Your key, your account, never through us. No limit.
Nothing to set up and no Apple Intelligence needed. For people who want the feature without holding an API key.
The rest of it
Apple Podcasts one show at a time or all at once, and OPML from Overcast, Pocket Casts, Castro or AntennaPod.
Reorder by grip, not by a long press that delays every tap.
Skips pauses over 400ms in downloaded episodes and tells you how much it has saved you.
Stop a show taking your attention without discarding its episodes, your positions and your history.
Search and categories come from Podcast Index, an open index funded by its community.
Sync through your own iCloud account. Export OPML any time and take it elsewhere.

Privacy
Your library, positions, downloads and history live on your device, and sync — if you want it — through your own iCloud. An API key you add is kept in the Keychain and sent only to the provider it belongs to. Kiln Plus is the one part that talks to a server we run, and it stores an anonymous id and token counts. Not what you listen to.
